ABOUT

Ikenna Michael Owoh was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001. He completed his Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Political Science and Law and Society and obtained his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1999. Since being called to the bar, Mr. Owoh has practiced almost exclusively as a criminal defence lawyer in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions. He formed Owoh Law in 2015, having been a partner at a criminal law firm for over 10 years prior to that time.

Mr. Owoh has successfully defended many serious criminal offences including Attempt Murder, Aggravated Assault, Conspiracy-related offences, Firearms-related offences, Robbery offences, Drug Trafficking-related offences, Importing Drugs, Sexual Assault-related offences and Human Trafficking-related offences. He has defended many other types of offences including all Assault-related offences, Threatening, Fraud, Theft and Drug Possession.

Mr. Owoh is a criminal defence lawyer with many years of trial experience in both the Ontario Courts of Justice and Superior Courts of Justice. He provides both effective and passionate legal representation for all clients in his care.

Mr. Owoh also takes pride in his aggressive defence of all youth who are charged with criminal offences under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. As with all cases, the first priority is to make the charges go away without any admission of guilt. After that, the focus turns to doing everything possible to ensure a successful result at trial. Mr. Owoh's experience includes defending the rights that have been guaranteed to every person under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and he will not hesitate to defend those rights no matter what the circumstances.

Mr. Owoh has been a speaker at professional development programs in his field on the topic of Professionalism & Ethics and on topics about specific legal applications that are argued at trials.  He has also been a panelist at a professional development program on the topic of Lawyers' Ethics in Youth Court.
